This is an un touched market ...why????? I want nice shoes , I would love some of the Katy Perry shoes and other nice dressy shoes. Why are all the wide shoes designed to look like orthotics or "old lady style?"

Just becaue you a wide foo , does not mean you are an "old lady" or have the need for orthotics, maybe you jsut have a wode foot..... like MOST people. According to my ortho  doc and podiatrist , the average person has a wider foot, yet we squeeze into uncomfortable shoes  and hte shoes are becoming more narrow. Why can't manufactureres make nice, elegant, stylish  wide shoes ? What is the problem? There is a market , one that is completely ignored ! Please , someone listen to  the cries for wide shoes  and stop giving us shoes that are unatractive ,bulky and down right ugly!

Mass market manufacturers play to the middle of the bell curve. The majority can be accommodated with a Medium width. I have the opposite problem. I need a Narrow. A Medium shoe is too wide and slips on my foot.  I feel your frustration. Making multiple widths involves many more lasts and more unsold product on hand. Shoe manufacturers are about profit.

@On It , Your post made me think of shoe shopping with my mom. This was pre internet and my mom had a quad heel , we were in shoe stores for hours .

Seems to me that QVC carries a nice selection of wide width shoes, in fact most seem to come in wides.  Many are too wide for me, even in the medium width.  Not everyone gets the perfect fit in every shoe everytime.  I know some lines just aren't for me.

I have a wide-ish foot and agree with this.  I find QVC to have a more expansive selection of wides than any B&M retailer I might shop at.

@RollTide2008    I know people who have wide feet and do not shop online for shoes, who say they cannot find wide shoes in the major department stores and stores that do offer wide shoes, are few abd far between but sell ugly shoes.  My sister wears a wide shoe and also has issues with one of her feet due to an injury,  and she seems to finds wide shoes at Kohl's.   She said Easy Spirit wides work for her.

I'm in between medium and wide.  While a wide width is a D, mine is a C  (medium is a B).  Most of the time I can get in to a medium though.  Yes, wide is much more common then the narrow width (A)  Older women need the wide because  of bunions.  So yes, the older you are the wider the foot becomes.

It's been my experience I can either shop online or I can settle for orthopedic shoes.
