Why such high shipping costs on Dooney & Bourke?

I enjoy watching the Dooney & Bourke shows and love the bags. What I don't understand is how and why is the cost of shipping for all Dooney bags so high? The shipping for Dooney bags start $12 and not many for less than $10 shipping. The bags are not that heavy to justify such a high shipping cost. The recent Oreck TSV (7/28/13) was $13 and it weighs more than a Dooney. I've only been able to purchase one Dooney bag and it was only because it was on easy-pay and FREE shipping. That was in 2012 and I haven't seen FREE shipping on a Dooney since. I would love to purchase another Dooney and willing to make the investment, but I have a hard time justifying the shipping costs.
