Why do people do this?

My DH and I went to Macy's this afternoon and while he was in the Men's Dept. I wandered over to the Dooney handbag area. They have a huge selection of the FLO satchel in black and in the natural.

Florentine (This one)

When I walked up to pick up one of the bags, to see how heavy it was, I noticed SEVERAL of the bags already have big scratches on them, looks like they were keyed or something.

I was sick..cannot believe that people do this. Just amazing.
