I've learned to steer away from any Dooney TSVs, that are "only exclusive to QVC". I've fallen for the hype and returned 2 of them (inferior quality) as well as that g'dawful Hobo Lock one with the kisslock coin purse (also exclusive to Q). (Stevieb, I can see you cringing at the "mention' of that handbag - {#emotions_dlg.laugh})

The only reason I watch the Dooney shows is to "see the handbags" before I purchase elsewhere. Belks is the only retailer in my area that sells D&B, and their selection/colors are extremely limited.

The dreaded Logo Lock...

I actually don't own a ton of Dooneys. Clearly, I have more than a few, and while I think they're well done bags, they aren't my 'go to' brand. When I am shopping for a Dooney I too tend to look elsewhere, though I certainly have ordered from here and perhaps will again. I do look for better pricing and shipping and more times than not can find it... Macy's and L&T carry them locally, but I don't recall ever purchasing one in-store, though I have ordered from both on-line. Then again, they both have actual sales (though L&T doesn't seem to have them like they used too...) and free shipping over a certain amount.

More times than not anymore, if I order from here, I wait for something to show up in 'as-is' and take my chances...

Re: Why do Sue Clifton and the hosts insist on...

I don't see it as lying; I see it as not being as informed as we expect them to be. I am not a D & B fan, although I do have 2 bags that were gifts. One came from QVC, and the other was purchased in a department store. I think the QVC one looks plastic, and the other is so heavy I don't like to carry it. I can remember looking at D & B bags longingly back in the 70's, but am not drawn to them now. Now that I'm retired, my attitude about handbags has changed dramatically, so I don't see myself buying new handbags in the future.

Of course they are there to make sure Dooney sells on QVC.This is Peter's main outlet. I don't buy the TSV's, either. When I can buy direct from Dooney, no tax or shipping, why would I pay extra for a drummed down purchase? There are so many that love the TSV's, and I applauded the choice, after all a bag is "what works for the individual."

I totally agree that Sue cannot correct the hosts on air. But during the particular show I watched it was Sue who said that the kiss lock coin purse was only available with the purchase of the logo lock bag and that Peter Dooney refuses to sell it separately. I would think that as the representative for Dooney and Bourke she knows that is not true.

Absolutely true. I've heard Sue push that 'exclusive to QVC' card out there more than once and I too have to believe she knows better.

Yes, this topic was discussed in 10 other threads already....

I keep seeing some comments about no tax charged if you buy from D&B website. How is that possible? I am being charged the tax on each site....

Most companies only charge tax if they maintain a brick and mortar presence in your state. When I ordered from Dooney.com, I didn't pay tax.

The Q does not have a brick and mortar presence in my state, not even a outlet store and they charge tax on everything I purchase. Because they drove thru once many years ago on a kitchen tour this makes it okay to charge tax.

Wow, interesting. I know of the nexus rule but haven't heard that some tours also qualify as one.... Will have to look it up (I work for a sales tax collecting agency but in special taxes)

If you do find something that explains it, could you please let us know and how it works? I think a lot of people would be interested.

Well, I guess it makes sense that you don't get charged tax at dooney.com if they are not physically present in your state.

I just remembered I don't get charged tax on purchases from overstock.com.

As far as Amazon, they are too big of a store/website so CA forced them to collect sales tax because the state was losing thousands of dollars in revenue.... normally if a retailer doesn't charge you a sales tax and it's required in your state, you are supposed to report and pay a use tax....but guess how many people volunteer to do that.....

Hmm....I live in California, and I just made a purchase from Amazon, but I was not charged sales tax...

Shawn said the same thing during her accessories show Friday when presenting the Chevron bag. That no retailers ever put Donney's on sale. I just shook my head especially when I purchased a bag QVC was selling at full price that I got for 40% off at Macy's.

QVC does occasionally offer a sale price, or what they call a sale, anyway... On the other hand, they're still selling bags from several seasons ago at full retail... And Shawn's going to tell us about other retailers...? I don't think so. One of the several reasons I'm increasingly turning her off, even though I used to think she was a solid host.

Re: Why do Sue Clifton and the hosts insist on...

I watched the two Dooney shows that aired this past Saturday, August 2nd. Both the hosts and Sue Crafton are still lying about the kiss lock coin purse that comes with the Dooney & Bourke Leather Hobo with Logo Lock not being sold separately anywhere. Not true. The coin purse can be found on both www.dooney.com and ILoveDonney.com. It is called a Large Framed Purse. It sells for $58.00 on the Dooney website and I have seen it for $45.00 on I Love Dooney. So sad that they are deceiving their customers.
