Treating a suede bag?

I recently ordered the TIG suede bag and I really love it. I haven't carried it yet though. Should I treat it with something first? Are they already treated? Its so pretty I don't want to alter the color but I want it to look good for as long as possible too.

I know I used to always use a spray to treat my DD suede Birkenstocks before she wore them the first time.

What do you ladies do with suede bags? Advice is really appreciated.

Aside from a Disney DB bag I gave my DD as a gift this is really the only nice handbag I have ever owned. Maybe that is the cause of my anxiety!
