According to Nina Garcia in her book "The one Hundred". She includes 100 pieces that every woman needs. These are the shoes:
30.Ankle Boots
31.Ballet Flats (Repetto)
32.Boots
33.Converse Shoes
34.Cowboy Boots
35.Driving Shoes
36.Espadrilles (Castaner)
37.Flip Flops (Havaianas)
38.Knee Boots
39.Mary Janes
40.Moccasins (Minnetonka)
41.Sandals (Jack Rogers)
42.Slippers
43.Stilettos
44.Vans
45.Wellington Boots (Hunter)
What do you all think? I put the brands that she emphasizes on in parentheses. I am sure that there were more brands but I can't remember them all of the top of my head. Are you familiar with these classic brands? I have Jack Rogers sandals I love them. Anything that Jackie O wore I love.

I'll pass on the cowboys boots, MaryJanes, and a couple others. Will add OTK boots, that I like.

I have plenty of each except:
flip-flops
espadrilles
Converse shoes

Hmmmm, didn't see my Vionic's arch support inserts on there . . . seriously back in the day I probably had most of those in my closet (aside from anything flat or sneaker related but if it had a heel I had it).
Hence the Vionic inserts now . . . ![]()

Every woman? Including 95 year old women who use walkers? How about destitute women who struggle to make rent? Sorry, but these lists that assume we are all the same just make me nuts. I think I can pick out my own shoes, Nina, but thanks anyway.

I'm sure it's just a generalization and not literally meant "every woman."
Some threads are just for fun conversation and not to be taken so serious.

No I don't think every woman needs flip flops ( hate them), moccasins ( butt ugly), espadrilles, converse, ballet flats, cowboy boots or wellingtons ( those depend on your local weather IMO). I have no idea what driving shoes are. Vans, I had them as a teen but I haven't owned a pair in years. Where are the combat boots and platforms? Mary Janes are probably my most frequently worn style but a lot of the ones sold today are ugly.

I don't think I like being told what shoes I "need."
02-17-2016 04:51 PM
Needs? Wow. I realize this is just a conversation starter here, but seriously Ms Garcia is seriously out of touch with reality!
What I "need" are a good pair of winter boots (water proof prefereable), a good pair of every day walking shoes appropriate for cool/cold weather and another pair good for warm weather. Add to that a nice pair of dress shoes and I'm all set. After that, it's all "wants" and most of the items on her list aren't want I want!
