@JBKO wrote:According to Nina Garcia in her book "The one Hundred". She includes 100 pieces that every woman needs. These are the shoes:
30.Ankle Boots
31.Ballet Flats (Repetto)
32.Boots
33.Converse Shoes
34.Cowboy Boots
35.Driving Shoes
36.Espadrilles (Castaner)
37.Flip Flops (Havaianas)
38.Knee Boots
39.Mary Janes
40.Moccasins (Minnetonka)
41.Sandals (Jack Rogers)
42.Slippers
43.Stilettos
44.Vans
45.Wellington Boots (Hunter)
What do you all think? I put the brands that she emphasizes on in parentheses. I am sure that there were more brands but I can't remember them all of the top of my head. Are you familiar with these classic brands? I have Jack Rogers sandals I love them. Anything that Jackie O wore I love.
I have literally never had a need to wear flip flops, mocassins (well maybe once when I was an indian princess ina halloween skit), mary janes (so ugly unless you are 3 or 4) , stillettos, knee boots, etc etc. My "driving" shoes are any that I happen to be wearing when I get into the car. Not everyone lives the same type of life that she does so her list, while mildly interesting, certainly doesn't apply to "every" woman. Instead it may apply only to wealthy women or those obsessed with shoes that they will buy but never wear.

Obviously her feet don't hurt as much as mine. Crocs are not listed, and I need those to work in the yard.

I don't own moccasins, driving shoes, espadrilles, or Vans. The rubber boots are in the garage and only used to power wash the pavement and the like.
She leaves out snow boots which are pretty much a necessity when living in Canada. This year I have bought some nice black suede shearling boots that aren't tall.
I do have some kitten heel pumps and some other pumps but some won't stay on due to a narrow heel.

I would eliminate about half of the list...

If I tried to walk in stilettos I wouldn't need to worry about wearing the other 14 shoe styles listed because I'd be in rehab after breaking every bone in my body.

I don't have them in the listed brands, per say, except for the Converse - love those all-stars sneakers... Definitely have the flats, ankle boots, cowboy boots, sandals, and the flip flops though. Fall and winter - I am a boot girl mostly. Spring and summer - a flip flop girl at heart.

I only have five of the shoes on that list, and they are not the brands that she listed. I don't need the other 11.

If I were in my 20s and lived a life that required all those, maybe I would find I "needed" them.
But since I'm a long way from that age, and also since I've never cared for Mary Janes or ballet flats or Converse shoes (or whatever Vans are) on me, and there haven't been any espadrilles that ever matched the Jacques Cohen brand, well, I'm pretty sure I would not have needed the whole list even if I were still in my 20s.

I have 7 of those listed. The rest I have no need of. Knee high boots..cowboy boots no. Stilettos, that ship has sailed.
