A few years ago I bought a Yumi flip flop TSV.  I have worn that Flipflop so much the bottom is slick.  I live in them.  I decided to order a new pair in same size with different top but the Yumi bottom.  They were a good 1/4 to 1/2 inch shorter.  The heal cup was smaller and they were so hard.  I thought the Yumi bottoms would all be the same just different colors and tops.  Boy was I wrong.  They go back today and unless I can buy them in person I will not buy anymore.  So sad because the pair I have is so great...

@chiclet

Is there any way you can "unslick" the bottom....sanding, spraying on a coating, etc. ?

@chiclet    Out of curiosity  after reading your post,I checked all of my Yumi flip flops.  I have two that are two years old and two I bought recently,   Thr bottoms are all identical.

Re: Spenco disappointment.....

@chiclet  How about putting some anti-slip grips on the bottom of the flipflops?  The grips that you can put on the floor of a bathtub or shower is what I mean.  There are all kinds on Amazon from tapes, strips and novelty shapes.  Just do a search for "antislip".  Not sure how it would hold up, but might be worth a try.

Re: Spenco disappointment.....

@chiclet Sorry to hear that! I have 3 Yumi's and love them...wear them almost exclusively to all my sandals, all summer. 2 of the 3 pair are my favs Spenco no longer made after that last purchase and are both about 2 and 4 years old. They had a leather/reptile top. I clean them up so the tops look good and the bottoms have really lasted. I'm a size 61/2 and 7's always fit perfectly.

I would think this footbed would be made the same from the same form...disappointing and curious why this happens with a product!

I've only bought them online...don't even know who carries them, locally to me, CT, if I wanted to try them on before buying a new pair.

These have such a great athletic type, supportive bottom, I've even, occasionally, done and exercise walk in them!

Re: Spenco disappointment.....

I tried Spenco once, tried them on and nothing hit my feet in the right places at all ie arch support, heel cup. They felt awful on, returned them. Will never even try another pair.

Re: Spenco disappointment.....

If it ain't broke...don't fix it. This new line is so unattractive, I just wouldn't purchase it. Vionics has that old orthopedic look. I went to Spenco for something that was fun, attractive and offered foot health. I'm sorry my grandmother wouldn't buy the new re-branding style...so sad.
