Another Roma 2 - which one would most likely NOT have a chemical odor? I know many people received black bags that had the problem, was there any color that didn't have that problem . . . at all?

Hi nowpurple. Did you get your replacement for the black one? If I'm not mistaken, the odor is mainly with the blush and black. I have a snake on the way, and now pretty much want them all. Someone posted a picture of the ivory ostrich in one of the Roma threads a few days ago, and it was gorgeous.

Hi krissie622, I did get my replacement for the black one. The outside actually smells like leather, but the interior still has a funky smell. I'm going to try to air it out as I really like this black bag. I'm thinking of ordering a second roma, but I don't want to have to return any more bags. These are a little to large for me to use as an everyday bag so I will use them more as a travel tote so a darker color might be best. I like the Natural Ostrich. I also like the Snake (it's a little out of my comfort zone but I liked it immediately). I don't know if anyone has complained that either of these have had the chemical odor.

I have the blush and there was only a slight smell. I put an open bag of potpourri in it for a few days and the smell was gone. Now as far as the black is concerned, I ordered it opened the box and the chemical smell was so bad, I immediately taped the box up and sent it back. I didn't even open the plastic or sleeper bag, the smell was that bad. I exchanged it for the natural ostrich which is beautiful, has only a very slight odor but is stiffer than my puddling blush. I will have to train the ostrich and hopefully it will become softer, since I'm not a fan of stiff, structured bags.

That's crazy so many people have had the chemical smell. I feel so fortunate mine was black and came out perfect.

These are not inexpensive bags. I think it's a sin that so many people are being forced to make returns. Or even the fact that you have to spend time and effort to ""train"" the bags.

For that money it should arrive perfect right out of the box the first time!!!!!!!!!!!

The smell on bags is most likely coming from the insecticide with which they spray goods coming into the country. The bags that are closet to the outside of the shipping container probably gets the smell, and there's no predicting which bags that might be.

I got a Florentine Dooney which reeked of fish. I mixed up some Don Aslett's X-O deodorizer and every time I walked past it handing on the back of a door, I gave it a good misting. By the end of the week, it had little odor and it's completely gone now.

nowpurple: I don't think the snake or the lizard prints are good choices for a travel tote. Snake printed leathers tend to be a little fragile and can get beat up looking if you are not careful with them. Travel totes get extra wear. That is just my experience, I have a lot of snake print leather handbags from many different handbag lines.

I sent back the blush because of the odor. I exchanged it for the black which is fine and I also got the ivory ostrich. No problem with it. I ordered the ivory as an afterthought since it was not high on my list. Of the three, I think it's the most striking. Really like it.
