I have a few sandals that have a sling back, but nothing fancy.

What do you all think of slingback shoes?

They have been trending the last year or so. I like the look, especially in warm weather, but I can't wear them. No matter how tightly I adjust the buckle, my heel will slip off the back end of the shoe while walking. Don't want to sprain my ankle or worse. Some slingbacks have elastic instead of a real buckle. I would think that would be a problem after the elastic stretches and becomes looser over time.

I'm going to get rid of the one pair I own. It's a fairly high wedge sandal slingback. Tried them on yesterday, and I didn't feel secure in the shoe. I have tried on a few low heel slingbacks in stores, and my heel slipped in those too. It's a bummer, because I do like the style, and I love buying a new pair of shoes. 😉

Enjoy shoe shopping!

@wilma  My head must have been in the sand or my neck of the woods is stuck in a time warp.

Sling backs have been "trending"(whatever that means) since the 20th century across the tri-States area.

Don't like them.  They either hurt the back of my ankle--what is that area called??--or don't stay on.  Other types of shoes are more comfortable for me.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has the foot sliding out of slingbacks!!  I thought it was just me - thought I purchased the wrong size, had the buckle too tight/too loose, etc.  I like the way they look, but don't like falling out of them so I have not worn them for many, many years.

@wilma

Agree with you completely. They always slip off my heels too no matter the adjustment so I never buy them anymore.

just recently I found out that the reason I am off-balance lately is supposedly the insole made out of memory foam. I’m losing the muscles in my feet. For about one week I have gone back to wearing easy spirit lace ups!

I really like them and for me they work because I need to have a backstrap and one that you can adjust.  I have a narrow heel and shoes always slip off my feet.
