Shoe inserts for support / bunions

I wasn't sure where to post this.

I want to try inserts but I don't want super thick ones that won't fit in my shoes or make my shoes super tight.

Would love to hear your recommendations, I'm clueless where to start.

@SandGirl, if you are looking for support in the arches of your feet, I would definitely recommend the Vionic brand. Along with a good selection of footwear, they also sell the inserts that come in most of the shoes, separately. Good luck! Wishing you Happy Feet!

I don't know how good they are but drug stores have that Dr. Scholl kiosk where you put your foot on the stand and it supposedly suggest a certain insolve.  They are not really expensive.

Not sure there are any that would fit into a dress shoe you already own.  They do take up space.

Might be better to move to a different style for other times.

Took a while for me to accept clodhoppers for comfort.  9.5 double wide at 5'3", you get the picture.  But I can walk forever.

@SandGirl   I had an orthopedist make orthotics for my running/gym sneakers & went up 1/2 size to allow for them. For my every day shoes, I rely on Clark's flats, sandals, even some nice comfy dress shoes on their site. They have wonderful support. No suggestion on what to do about the bunion issue except if quite painful and causing problems walking in most shoes, maybe a doctor visit is a good idea.

@AngelPuppy1 They aren't effective.  They didn't even last me a month for metatarsal pain.

@AngelPuppy1 If the issue is a bunion, and the issue isn't for an insert.  Bunions stem from a certain type of foot and outside pressure.  To help, you want to stop pushing in on the area.  You can use wider shoes, tie shoes (stop slide ons which hold on at the metatarsal area causing pressure.  If your shoes are too tight, not only will you have pain, but the area will be red.

I highly recommend you order this bunion stretcher for all of your shoes.  It will help relieve pressure with your shoes, and for goodness sake, don't wear plastic shoes.  Leather stretches!

Amazon Hoke And Ball, owned by most shoe stores.  You can't wear it out.  Rub some warm water on the inside of the shoe and clamp this on for several days.  It will help you with every shoe you own.

My family owned the largest fine shoe store here for 50 years.  I learned quite a lot and have the kind of foot for bunions.  I wore the wrong shoe for years as a teacher and developed a bunion.  I know all of the applications.Smiley Happy

@ECBG

O.k.  I didn't know.  I have a bunion, also.  I have a terrible time getting comfortable shoes as well.  it is a big problem.

I discovered the brand "foot petals" on HSN. I think QVC has them as wll. These are soft and thin inserts to cushion inside your shoes or whatever. They come in different shapes for different parts of the shoe, I have them in most of my shoes and boots.
