Have you tried Birkenstock?

I recently purchased a pair of birkenstocks..the strap that is near the ankle is giving me fits.  I have not worn them outside yet cause I want to make sure I will keep them.

I know there is a break in period, as I have had them before but that strap..I think is a deal breaker.

Re: SUMMER COMFORTABLE SHOES

@Mom2Dogs   When I have new pair of Birkenstocks with leather straps, I wear them in the house for a while, with socks.

This protects my skin and the leather softens a little, to be

comfortable. I prefer suede straps , they are always soft and

comfortable.

Re: SUMMER COMFORTABLE SHOES

I definitely recommend the Merrell sandals that Carmie posted. I wear them and never had any break in time.

I also recommend Ecco shoes. They are pricey but if you monitor, you'll see them on sale or with promo codes. I bought a pair for $99 at a shoe retailer that was $175 on EccoUS.com - yes, they were authentic Ecco. Sign up for Eccous.com emails because they regularly run sales on new and old styles.

Anyway, I wear Ecco almost all the time. Some styles run narrow or narrow through the toe. Others run average width and toe. Once I figured out which style works for me, I was done.

I could spend $50 a year for 5 years (total $250) for other brands but I spent $110 on my Ecco summer flats that still look like new after 5 years - even the soles show little wear.

                   I think I have about 18 pairs.

@Enufstuff

Wow!  That's a lot of Birki's.  I agree, they are the best.

She's a rookie.  I have at least 35 pairs.

@Biftu   You are the Birkenstock Queen.

That is not all that I wear though.

I have'nt counted lately, but I must have at

least 50 pairs of other shoes.

@Enufstuff  👑 I am!  Unfortunately I don't wear them as much as I used to.  I don't even dare to count the amount of shoes/boots I have!  You are on your way to also being a shoe queen.

@Biftu   I used to have a lot more cute shoes, but sadly arthritis

in my feet forced me to get rid of all those high heels.

Now being retired, I have enuf.

@Enufstuff  When I retired I donated all my heels.  It was hard, but I knew I would not wear them.  I have more than enuf too. I just donated some boots and shoes that were hardly worn.  Gotta pair down.

Re: SUMMER COMFORTABLE SHOES

I need to go through my shoes and start another purge...shoes are the hardest thing for me to toss...but many just aren't as comfortable as they once were...guess my foot has changed or maybe some I have kept too long.

I do need some new shoes but not Birkis...i need some dressier sandals that don't kill my feet. Have plenty of Birkis and love them.
