One thing I have noticed with the tassel - it is quite heavy and it pulls down on the hardware ring that it is attached to. This causes that corner of the bag to droop down. I have a little bit of a crease in my black bag almost at the 1/2 mark at the top of the bag. I took the tassel off for now while I decide whether I am going to keep this bag. If I keep it, I'm not sure that I will leave the tassel on - too bag because I like the tassel.

I have several of the Gili Roma bags, but took the tassels off of all of them. I just personally find them to be a bit over the top and too large to appeal. I guess I just find the bags more elegant and understated without them.

I also removed the tassels, but, not due to weight. I just feel that I am too old to have that large of a tassel on my bag. I have several D&B florentine with tassels which I like, but, they are smaller. Regardless of with or without tassel, I love these bags!

They're great bags...

For me, it wasn't an age thing, I just didn't think the tassel made any sense whatsoever! Besides, it seemed like it was always in the way and getting caught in something! Didn't like it at all...

I am not opposed to tassels, but I am not a fan of this oversized tassel. If I had kept the Roma, I would have removed it.

I personally hate tassels, and won't buy a bag that has one unless it can be removed. On the GILI bag, that tassel is so large it looks like it should be gracing the backside of California Chrome.
