Umm....I am a CPA and I know exactly what it means for a business.

OP, I agree with you but their return policy is a 'no questions asked' one, so I guess it opens the door to all sorts of abuses. What is a problem for me is what they do with returned products... How they decide what gets sent out again as new versus what goes to the as-is pages...

I have returned just 1 handbag in my lifetime.
LOL, i bought a Dooney at Macy's. The truth is, I never much cared for this line; but the ladies on this board who enjoy theirs so much tempted me to take a look in hopes I might find one I liked.
When in Macy's I thought the Dooney I bought was quite nice---it was. After taking it home, carrying it around the house for a few days, never actually using it outside my house I realized this bag was not for me.
I bought this bag on Sunday & returned it on Wednesday to hopefully find a home that would appreciate it.

I only WISH I had returned my Roma 2 natural ostrich bag. I stubbornly tried to ""train"" it past the 30 day window. It is too stiff to carry comfortably and never got any better - the training and the ""massaging"" did nothing for it.
It sits here as a monument to my stupidity.

QVC business model creates the perfect storm. It is possible to condition a bag and then have and then have issues with zippers or stitches coming out after wearing. That can happen and if you're talking Dooney's, that's not acceptable within the first month.Too much $$$. 6-12 months down the road, it's a different story Other than that, you wear it, you bought it and live with the consequences. It's not fair to others.
I was taught that was tacky and dishonest--no matter what they told you. Same goes for shoes or apparel. If you want to "rent" handbags, there are businesses that do that.

I think it is fascinating that anyone would object to a bag being returned in better condition than it was received. I find it interesting-that people scratch the leather on bags with their fingernails to see if it will scratch, or carry bags unto the handles crack, but it is really between them and QVC. I always wondered if people damage bags so they can buy them at half price on As Is. The bags I return are usually packed better and look better when I send them back. I always hope the person receiving them will appreciate my efforts gave them a nicer bag than I got.How exactly do you make a bag look better than the original wrapping?
I don't need anyone to make their own decisions on what would make a "nicer bag" for my purchases. When I buy a bag, I want it in it's original wrapping, if I'm paying for it in new condition.

It's up to you, whether you use this policy or abuse it, but this discussion is pointless, because everyone has their own reasons, ethics, and circumstances.
I had to return a bag to Macy's after 30 days were over because after carrying it for sometime, I decided it was not working for me. I did the same thing with the Starbucks single cup coffee maker because it turned out to be a piece of s..... but normally I don't return much....However, it's nice to have this option!
Incidentally, for the life of me, I can't understand why ladies send something back THE SAME DAY they received the purchase?!? Seems like a very impulse buyer....to me it's just a waste of $ for all the shipping costs! But again, to each their own.... these discussions won't change anything..... Happy 3 day weekend, everyone!
If I receive something that is not what I expected, it goes back the same day or the following day. It has nothing to do with impulse buying, and everything to do with recognizing that my expectation of what the item was like, didn't match with it in person, when it arrived. I seldom return anything.

There will always be people who take advantage of things. It's like the people who buy clothes at the department stores, wear it, then return it. They have no conscience.
