Recommendation needed fro great walking shoes …

For extensive European tour. Lots of cobblestone streets I presume. Thanks in advance Open to the possibility of sneakers or regular shoes. What suited you best?

Re: Recommendation needed fro great walking shoes …

My Merrell's "Jungle Moc" are my go to shoes for any kind of vacation that requires walking.  They are really comfortable and hold up.  I've marched all over many a cobble stone streets in Europe as well as Boston, Seattle, and even local hiking (rocky terrain).

Another pair is on my wishlist for Black Friday!

As far as sneakers go, my New Balance with orthotics were wonderful.  My Brooks were also.  A lot of folks like OC and Hoka, but they did not work for me.   I think comfortable sneakers are an individual thing.

Orthofeet.   I purchased a pair of their Fisherman type sandals a couple years ago for an extended trip to Florida.  Since then I haven't turned back.........I bought a pair of sneakers for a trip across Italy for a month last year (lots of walking) and they were great!

Then purchased some Mary Jane's for a cruise this past April........on and on.  They are the best, most comfortable shoes I have ever worn right out of the box.  They are a bit pricey but worth every penny and they are always free shipping and they have lots of sales.   Orthofeet dot com   (all have been true to size)

Re: Recommendation needed fro great walking shoes …

I recently bought a pair of the absolute best athletic shoe I've ever worn: New Balance 1080, version 14 (version 14 is important as it is much better than the v. 13). I'm also a huge fan of Brooks Adrenaline GTS (or it might be called GTX). I am super picky about athletic shoes. (Well, any shoes actually).

Re: Recommendation needed fro great walking shoes …

Go to your nearest Fleet Feet and tell them what you're wanting.  They will measure your feet and use a "machine" to see if your feet pronate among other things.  Then they will recommend several perfect walking/running shoes!  The best thing is, is that after you wear them, if you don't like them or have a problem, you can return them to the store to exchange or get refunded ALL your money!  I am seeing brands recommend on this thread that don't fit my feet at all.  That's why you need to go to a Fleet Feet to find what is best for YOUR feet.  For example, Saucony is best for mine, but I don't see that brand recommended yet on this thread.

Too funny!  Taking the grands to DC soon and I have pair of Merrell Mocs and a pair of Merrell slip ones ready to pack.  Both are well broken in and we will not be dressing up.  Wool socks at the ready too.

@gellen.  I just hope nobody recommends Skechers as they're awful if you're going to do a lot of walking, especially over rough ground.
