Re: Question for Birkenstock wearers

[ Edited ]

I couldn't get my computer to let me type, but I could hit post - weird.  Anyway, the soft footbed is just a memory foam layer over whichever verion of Birkenstock you choose.  The classic footbed has more support than either Birki's or Papillio. I have all of them. I tend to wear the non-memory foam ones more.  They do feel great with the lining, but it seems clunkier on the foot, and the Birki ones run super wide (and I have a wide foot).  I think possibly they did something so the foam wouldn't take up space from the width.

There is also a soft sole but few styles have it. I have one that has both the soft sole and footbed and I really can't wear them, I walk right out and they are the right size.

I agree. I miss my Birks from QVC. I live in them and have many pairs, sandals and clogs. They last and last, just need to get them resoled after couple years of wear. QVC bring them back. Don't wear any thing else.

Appreciate all the comments about the two types of Birks.  I have always found the classic ones to be very comfortable, and frankly, nothing feels better to me than to step into a brand new pair.  I have never had to go through a break-in period.

If anyone else is looking for a source to purchase these shoes, you can find them at FootSmart.com.  If you get on their mailing list, the print  catalogs come monthly.  I occasionally order from them.  Shipping is free over a certain amount.
