I recently bought a pair of heels frim Chico's. The soles say " man-made". What can I do to make them less slippery? I really love the shoes, but don't want to take a dive in them. Any and all suggestions appreciated. I usually buy shoes with leather soles which is why I'm asking. Thanks to all.

Get coarse sandpaper and sand down the slippery soles a bit, or wear the shoes outside on rough concrete to wear off the shiny sole. You could also apply strips of masking tape to the sole.

Scratch them up with a big nail.

I would either scratch up the soles with sandpaper, and if that doesn't do the trick, get some no-slip shower decals and put them on there. You should be able to find plain white circles or something other than rubber ducky decals.

When my DD was little, I would have her go outside and scuff the smooth, shiny soles of her patent leather shoes (while wearing them) on the concrete of the driveway. This worked wonderfully well.

I have found leather soles to be slippery, particularly on wet surfaces. All of the shoes that I currently wear (SAS Shoes) have non-slip soles and I'm never concerned when wearing them.

Thanks, everyone. Time to go outside and scuff these up. I must admit,though...I was tempted to put rubber duckies on the soles! In my family, the reactions would be worth it. ??

Check your local shoemaker ... or even Amazon, CVS or Walgreen's where they have their shoe polish.

You can buy non-slip sole pads to apply to the soles of your shoes. I have them on all my dress shoes.

Thanks again for all the ideas. Kathleen--I had no idea about the non-slip pads. Will check it out.
