Ladies, this is the story of a Dooney catastrophe that turned out ok. I think it speaks to the durability of our Dooney & Bourke bags. Yesterday I was sitting in a Wendy's with my son when he accidently tipped over his entire vanilla diet coke. I was sitting diagonally across from him, with my Dooney signature tassel tote on the seat next to me, which was the seat directly across from him. It was a little bitty table, and when the drink went over it tipped away from him in the direction of my OPEN bag. The whole drink poured over the table INTO and ALL OVER my beige signature, vachetta leather trimmed bag. It happened so fast that the bag was filled with ice & coke before I could do anything. I immediately took everything out of the bag and actually had to empty coke & ice from the bag. Then I did what I could to blot everything with paper napkins. It was an unbelievable mess, and we didn't have the option of going back home at that point. So I carried that poor stained bag for several more hours. When I finally got home, I felt that I had nothing to lose, so I filled a tub with water & Woolite and dunked the entire bag up and down in the soapy water (along with my Vera Bradley wallet and Pursefection organizer). Then I dunked everything several times in clear water. Finally I stuffed the bag with towels inside to blot up as much moisture as possible. Then took out the towels and hung the bag by its straps to dry. Today it looks great!! The stains came out of the Vachetta leather and the signature fabric. The only thing that needs work is that the leather is a bit stiff and I need to figure out what I will use to moisturize it. I know whatever I use will darken the leather. But when I consider what this poor bag has been through, it's a small price to pay. This was not a new bag by any means. So alls well that ends well, and I thought that only another Dooney fan could appreciate this story.Wink

ETA Turns out that the Pursefection is very washable, too!
