I seriously don't get the bad rap with respect to velcro.  You can either have a very clean, naked strap or a strap that has to go through the mechanism of some cheap and often unattractive buckle (which might or might not match the hardware on a handbag).

 

Sometimes I think posters blame velcro when they should more realistically be blaming an overall ugly shoe.  😊

@HULAGIRL, many of us are still able to to buckle a buckle and tie a shoelace and still either don't object or actually like velcro.
