New to Birki's _ Help

Hi, I got some Birki's in the original years ago but couldn't get used to the hard footbed. So this year I got the softbed to try. I love how they feel. My question is, I'm not sure about the fit. I'm a size eight in a sneaker now. But it seems if I wear an open toe shoe I can be a 7 1/2. I got these in the size eight and I feel like they might be a little big. There is a lot of room in the toe area, but my heel seems to be right near the end, with a tiny bit of room.

So I bought a size 7 and they feel more snug and comfortable, yet the heel is at the end? My toes are just right.??? I am so confused. According to their size chart I'm suppose to be an 8. So how are these suppose to fit? Is the toe aea suppose to be roomy and the heel have a bit of room? Or should the toe area be just right and the heel comes to the back of the shoe. Is it suppose to be a bit roomy? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh{#emotions_dlg.unsure} Help please
