Each to their own, but I always thought the hyphenating thing was kind of silly. Personally, were I to marry, I'd keep my name unless his name was just SO stellar, then, I'd still keep my full name and just add one at the end... Were I to then divorce, I'd drop the new name. Is it maybe just easier to keep the new name? Otherwise, I've never 'gotten' why divorcees would keep the name of a man to whom they're no longer married...

Yes, it's easier. No cost of updating all of your documents (in my case, in two countries). Also, all my college transcripts and diplomas have HIS last name, so this was another reason I wanted to keep the name. And finally, I really didn't like my maiden name.
Besides, changing your name back and forth can get old. LOL. I am already used to my married name. My mom kept her married name after divorce just so her last name is the same as her kids'.

Wow... Makes sense... And upon further review, I think should I ever marry I will definitely just keep my name! I always like the path of least resistance! Well, almost always...

Well, in some cases the path of least resistance would be to take your husband's name because otherwise they would get offended....My friend actually had to compromise with her husband because he wanted her to take her name and she didn't want to give hers up, so now her maiden name became her middle name, because she didn't want to do the hyphen.
I also know a girl who hyphenated her last name when she got married, but dropped her husband's name after they got a divorce.

Hard to believe, isn't it, that we've made so much progress... and yet the male ego is still so fragile...?

You'd like to think that in the 21st century a man would have more meaningful measures of himself than whether or not a woman is willing to change names when she marries...

just put this in my cart...
Showed it to my husband, thinking he would hate it, he said it was a great looking bag... enabler. I need an intervention... soon.
Well it IS a great looking bag...
I didn't order the bag... yet. But did get a Rebecca Minkoff Cupid satchel in almond.
I think I'm going to give up on giving up handbags.
Btw, I've been married twice never changed my last name. Neither of them had a problem with it.

Well at least they had that going for them!
Minkoff is so nice... And the Dooney is new. It'll be around for a while. Still plenty of time for you to buy!
