Re: My first Coach bag - I'm in love :)

This is my favorite Coach nylon Madison bag. I have the retail store version (a gift!) in brown, and the outlet version in black. It's great for winter since it's nylon and doesn't get water stains from the snow. My cost per wear over the last 3-4 years has been almost pennies.

This eBay version (retail store version) was going for $250!

Re: My first Coach bag - I'm in love :)

i have 6 Coach bags and besides my Coach Kristen shoulder tote my favorite is the one i recently picked up at Marshall's on clearance. It's a basic tote but has lots of pockets and organization and the leather is a beautiful tan which i never thought i would go for, but it is amazing how great it goes with everything.!! i was out of town and the store is in an uppity neighborhood. All the Coaches and MKors were marked down! the best time to go is on a Tues or Wed. - daytime...one of these days i will have to go back there :-)

Enjoy, enjoy your new bag. You did good getting this bag. BTW, there is just something special about the FIRST Coach, or anything you wanted, and had to wait for the right time to buy it.

My sister in law turned up this week-end with a new Coach bag. Very chic. She got it at Nordstrom Rack.

I bought my first Coach bag in 1974 at a luggage shop while in college! It was not a huge brand back in those days. I purchased a number of them throughout the years then moved on to other brands when they got on the fabric bag bandwagon that was so popular. Based on the pictures I have seen here, I may have to re-visit this brand! Some great looking bags!

I beg to differ. I remember Coach as being a big deal luxury brand in 1974. I went to school in the 1960s and the IT girls at my high school and college either had one or craved one. The thing is back in those days there wasn't in your face promotion of high end luxury brands (celebrity photos everywhere; TV; internet; high end store catalogs; etc.). Furthermore, there weren't all the discount places which expose the masses to these brands, and make it possible for many more people to own. Luxury was pretty much like a secret club for the privileged few.

I remember my first Coach was given to me by my parents as a high school graduation gift because an IT girl couldn't head off to college without a good lady's "pocketbook". It a tan saddle bag. Today we would call it a satchel. I carried that bag until the tan had aged to a rich brown. One's first luxury bag is a special thing.{#emotions_dlg.tt1}
