Mini hipster question

Hello all you VB experts!

I was going to purchase the mini hipster today but discovered many complaints of the strap tearing off the bag....this was on the VB website. Has anyone encountered this and I'm just wondering if those straps could just be reinforced with a thread and needle? Its hard to tell from the pictures on the VB website. Thank you!
