I think Rykas are designed more for fashion than performance. You don't find serious, supportive walking shoes at the price point for which Rykas sell. The really good ones are well over $100. They undoubtedly give more support than a flip flop but if you examine the inside of the shoe, there's not much there. Good for day to day living, running errands, a day at Disneyland, sightseeing, but a serious, scientifically engineered walking shoe...no.
I have flat feet and have trouble finding comfortable shoes. I've discovered Alegria shoes and love them. Q sells some and the company has their own sales website where you can look at them.
