Re: How Often Do You Change Handbags?

I change at least twice a week, sometimes more depending on my schedule and events.

Re: How Often Do You Change Handbags?

When it falls apart!!! I carry a huge bag but don't take it shopping or most places and just take a wristlet or put money and cards in my pocket so I don't think of a bag as an accessory. If I'm going to a wedding or more formal event then I will choose an appropriate one.

Re: How Often Do You Change Handbags?

I've been carrying a red Brahmin all February in honor of Valentines Day--will go back to it in December for the Christmas season. On March 1st, I will switch to a grass green patent leather Dooney for St. Patrick's Day and will carry it through the 1st week in April as I live near Augusta, GA---home of the Masters Golf Tournament (you wouldn't believe how much green is worn in this area during that time!). Then I'll go to a watermelon Coach for spring/Easter/early summer. Probably around August 1, I'll switch to a green Coach, the color of which makes me think of the yellowing green grass of late summer. Beginning of October, I'll go to a black Coach and use that til December.

I guess I switch sort of seasonally!

Twice a year. I wear very good bags that I get my cost per use out of every time. I finally learned to purchase bags that truly suited my lifestyle. My bags are beautiful and yet easy to use for me.

I change my handbag several times a week. I own lots of different styles and colors and like to coordinate them with my clothing... either matching or contrasting. I live in a colder climate and tend to use deeper tones in the fall and winter, and lighter and brighter in the spring and summer. But some colors are year round..... palamino, camel, black, navy, royal, red, purple. I wear teal in the colder months and aqua or turquoise in the warmer months, raspberry and plum in the colder months and hot pink in the warmer months.

Switching handbags takes only a minute. I empty the old bag onto the bed and make sure it is completely empty. Then I fill the new bag. If you use a purse organizer it makes it even easier, but I find they add weight, so I don't use them anymore.

I second this lol!!! I also have a large collection and like to use as many of my bags as often as possible...I enjoy using them, what can I say lol?! In my opinion, the palomino can be worn all year round in the Dooney satchel....go for it Arianny and enjoy!Smiley Happy))))

What a delightful post. I love the way your mind works. You seem to be like me--i.e. a person who is highly attuned to the seasons and climate around us.

Given that I'm not really interested in clothing all that much (but adore bags, scarves, jewelry, shoes and color cosmetics), I express my seasonal attunement and cravings with accessories and makeup. Actually, I just bought a cheerful little Travelon nylon bag offered here earlier this week in a "salmon" (light coral) color specifically to wear when the hot weather rolls around this year.

But unfortunately, despite my instinctive urges to follow the seasons around me, I usually can't switch out my bags consistently according to season and holiday.

The trouble for me is that I'm a city dweller with no car and whenever I am going anywhere that will keep me away from home for more than a few hours at a time, I need "the kitchen sink" with me in my bag. That means 90% of the time (certainly Monday through Friday, and then any day trips or long outings I take on a weekend), I have to have quite a large bag (tote, duffle, or backpack) with me. I actually prefer medium sized crossbody bags over any other type of bag but can only indulge in those on weekends near home or on vacations in which I have access to a friend or relative's car.

What I do with regularity is use the big totes, etc. Monday through Friday and then on the weekends switch to whatever small, medium or medium-large bag tickles my fancy. Switching my stuff between bags is annoying but it would be more annoying and ungratifying to have to neglect my large bag collection!

I guess you can say I switch bags once or twice a week, and the switching always happens on the weekend.

Re: How Often Do You Change Handbags?

Lumina and vermint, you two brought me fond memories of my mom because she was so much like the two of you. We live in the LA area and my mom always changed her accessories and jewelry and handbags to fit the season, etc. and almost weekly for the bags!! My niece also does this and has since she was a young teen. She has pretty much taken all mom's handbags that she loved and she uses them often. My mom had quite a designer collection too so they have outlasted her and are still being loved and cared for by my niece.

I'm one who buys a handbag for a years use. My Ralph Lauren bag I bought last year was the only one I used for the whole year. I still drag out my LV my grandfather bought me over 20 years ago and use it too. Now my jewelry, sometimes I change it in the same day. Smiley Happy
