Women Are Ditching High Heels in Favor of Sneakers at a Rapid Pace
According to an article in Footwear News, the sales of high heels (3 inches and above) has declined quite a bit since 2011 as women are now buying lower heel shoes including kitten heel, block heels, flats, and athletic style or athletic footwear instead. Sales of high heels were down 12% in 2017. Back in 2011 high heels were 50% of women's shoe sales.
Well that's quite a big difference in 6-7 years! I guess the heel goes up and down in height but I think with a more casual work environment that women are seeking more comfortable shoes that they can actually walk around in for a long period of time whether at work or elsewhere.

I donated all my high heels when I retired in 2010.
My limit now is about 1.5".

Liked them at one time but prefer a lower heel.

Baby shoes. Goes with the cupcakes, mac and cheese and pastel colors.

Heels will never be out. Women are dressing more casually in the work place and all, most times sacrificing neatness and style just for comfort sake; however, there will always be the need for heels.

Me too @KitTkat. Not for every day, but for special occasions when I don't have to be on my feet all the time (hopefully). I'm resigned to not buying any dress shoes this year since it looks like lower chunky heels are in, but hopefully some good high heels will return next year.

@TY Usually I'm in flats, Birks, Tom's, clogs, sneakers, shooties...I rarely wear heels and if I do, it is 2" or less. Comfort, and now vegan, is my main consideration when purchasing shoes. (As an aside, I'm currently giving away more than I'm buying.) Health is a main concern for women today, and although wearing a high heel once in awhile may not be harmful; it could be detrimental if done on a daily basis. Women are smarter.

I think women will always love and want heels. Nothing like a great pair of them to finish a beautiful outfit! I lament that I can no longer wear them. I, however, think it's great that women seem to be going for sneakers and flats, tool. Since sneakers are all I can wear, it makes me feel a bit less out of it!!!

I am fortunate at age 83 to be able to wear mine, my upper limit these days is a 4 1/2 inch heel w/o any platform sole. I can't see them ever going out of style.
