Help with Clarks Sizing

I have worn a 6 1/2 M for almost 40 years. Clarks is the only shoe I can't seem to find the right size. I've ordered my normal size and it was very tight. I've ordered my normal size and it fit fine. I've ordered my normal size and it was way too big -- that has happened the most. I've even returned one that was too big to find the next size down was too small.

Is there any rhyme or reason to the sizing? Is it based on style or just luck of the draw?
