You may be able to find a good name brand quaility handbag at a TJ Maxx or Marshall. They carry last seasons patterns/styles and prints for much less.
I really don't care about this season, last season, next season. I buy what I like. It just so happens the last DB show had handbags in pastel colors that I liked.
You don't need to spend a fortune to get a great bag but I won't spend on a bag that won't last either.

If only everyone had this common sense, especially the US government. It's unfortunate when you hear about people who are on food stamps or welfare and have expensive shoes, cell phones, jewelry etc.
Is it really necessary to drag the welfare generalization into an already somewhat highly charged thread?

Feel better now ?
What you feel comfortable with spending on a bag is your business. What others spend- is theirs.
So the point is ????????

You didn't have to post on her thread, since obviously you all purchase designer handbags. Maybe other people who want to spend less on a handbag could have some constructive suggestions for her. There is so much negativity in these forums. You would think she insulted each of you personally. I don't get it. Just go to another thread. This is why the forums are dying. So many people have jumped ship on these.
Wow - I'm so glad you gave all of us a lesson in economics and how people are different. Duh! She is speaking for herself and many others who can't drop $300 on a handbag, yet still want a nice one.
When you start a thread, I've always found it's best to anticipate replies... good, bad and indifferent. I've also found the kinds of replies to expect often relate back to what you say and how you say it...
An expression of opinion on the costs of some handbags is one thing, but I guess when you indicate it's 'nuts' to spend what some do sort of takes it into another realm and the replies were commensurate with the tone.
Had the OP asked for suggestions about finding a nicer handbag for less there probably would have been more replies along those lines than there were. Personally, I think most people know to shop sales and discount stores and sites when looking to buy something nice for less than full retail...

Irishwoman, you might want to check Neiman Marcus Last Call website. They carry a large selection of designer handbags (e.g. Elliott Lucca, Rebecca Minkoff, orYANY) at discounted prices. I recently purchased a lovely orYANY satchel that was originally $298, but on sale for $159. It's worth a look.
And I also agree with SFGIANTSGIRL to check out Marshall's and T.J. Maxx as they sometimes carry designer handbags from the previous year at a good discount. At my local Marshall's, I've seen Anuschka and Michael by Michael Kors models.
