So why couldn't Lisa operate like Susan Graver. They basically own her line as well don't they? Couldn't Lisa be the designer/rep for GILI?

There's no reason she couldn't, but she said she was leaving QVC. Period. She never indicated she would be taking on a different role within QVC, and she also said that she started her own Facebook page because when she leaves QVC she can't retain her QVC FB page... Given that many QVC vendors do have QVC FB pages, the implication is that when she's gone, she's gone...

I actually found some interesting information about the GILI label. QVC's original filing for the U.S. federal trademark of GILI was abandoned back on February after their filing was opposed. At that time QVC had jewelry, handbags and other accessories and specific clothing items under this GILI filing.

On October 9, 2014, QVC, Inc. filed for another U.S. Federal trademark for G.I.L.I (note the periods this time) and for jewelry only. No classification of handbags, belts or any other clothing falling in this filing.

In a recent question about GILI Lisa said the designs are done for the first 6 months of next year and the hand bags are almost done, so she does not see why QVC would not continue the line. She said she just would not be designing it any more.

Interesting stuff...

Based on what we've seen of Gili jewelry thus far, seems like just a lot of bronzo, crystals and the Q's other 'gemstone' flavors of the month... Sounds like another mis-step in the making to me...

Unless the stuff is already under production though, I'd be surprised if they continued it just based on designs, unless they're are contractual deals with manufactures or they need the merchandise to fill gaps...

The designs alone are probably theirs to do with as they please whenever they please, or not...

Stevie I wonder if they will continue it under a different name being that another clothing company opposed the trademark?

I wonder who/why another company ""opposed"" the trademark...Not very well versed in those kinds of issues? That peaks my interest??

Are they still allowed to use the GILI name?

I wonder who opposed it?

Since they seem to be all about house brands these days, I'd suspect they will evolve another house brand to fill the void. What I find curious is that if they could keep the Gili name (with periods) for jewelry, why they wouldn't or couldn't keep it for the other garb...

Any way you slice it, if Lisa has been the 'design' force behind Gili and Lisa is no longer there, they're clearly going to have to find someone else to honcho the line, whatever they call it. Who knows, maybe since Gili has come to be associated with Lisa they won't want constant reminders to long term customers that Lisa is no longer there...
