For the orYANY fans: a different look

I like orYANY bags, but they are usually too much for me. Too large and too heavy and too much going on for someone 5'2" with shoulder issues. I had to give a heavy satchel away to a good friend for just those reasons.

However, if you like a saffiano type finish: I got this bag (Lyla satchel) at Amazon Prime and I really like it (this is the back view). Nice handles, nice weight, clean look, interesting colors but not too much. I took the extra strap off. I only carry a wallet, cosmetic bag and an old iphone now days. Full disclosure: this type of finish has a little bit of odor and not a leather smell, at least to me. A short airing and a dryer sheet tucked inside took care of that right away. Most people wouldn't notice, but it concerned me initially.

Now, I took a peek at Nordstrom Rack and they have a shoulder bag with the same finish and clean look. The Bessie Hobo. The blush multi color is striking, however, this is a bit bigger size than my satchel and that is my only hesitation. Well, that and I said sternly to myself "no more bags" and it is only January. You can zoom in on the bag to see it has a shiny cross hatch look to it. Should stand up to uggy weather with a swipe of a cloth. Nordie's is great with returns also and has good solid customer service.

Just saying, this is a newer look for this line and very timely. Plus they are on sale. I don't buy anything at full price anymore. Except that last houndstooth tote at Vera Bradley. {#emotions_dlg.blush}

Re: For the orYANY fans: a different look

Loving the brick color of the Lyla and it's a nice looking satchel, but I just wish Amazon gave more thorough dimension information, like, in this case, the depth... Often, oryany bags aren't very deep, which proves a deal-breaker for me, though I found the full measurements at Nordstrom rack. Related, assuming you saw that the Rack had the same satchel for less than Amazon, but only in the brick choice... I also really like the Saffiano look, and I'm not all that sensitive to minor odors, which usually fade quickly... Hoping you love it upon arrival.

Re: For the orYANY fans: a different look

The good news was that Amazon Prime gave me an additional $60.00 credit on the discounted bag for opening an Amazon Credit card with them thru Chase. I am very nervous (being an ex-banker) about online purchases and generally use Paypal. However, since I often shop at Amazon, I requested a lower limit separate charge card so that I can control the activity and monitor the card regularly. I get a lot books etc. thru Amazon and the Prime feature gives me free (and speedy) shipping. Working well so far.

Good for you! Of course, it's an individual thing. I order from Amazon regularly, but not so often that I've opted for Prime. Isn't Prime up to about $100 a year? I've been tempted by their CC offers even for non-Prime, which I think knocks about twenty-five off your purchase, but so far haven't opted to open the card. If anything, I need to pay some of mine off!
