Interesting piece on Birkenstocks on CBS Sunday Morning today.  I can't post the link here, but if you go to You Tube and search Birkenstock, it should come right up for you.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I saw the piece and thought several facts very interesting:

*All shoes still made in Germany

*Aggressively pursue fakes

*No freebies for celebrities

*Took their brand off Amazon ( too many fakes)

@gidgetgh Thanks for saving me trouble of posting.  I haven't been on this laptop since I fell and really did break my neck.

I usually post on my Ipads.  I like typing on my laptop because I can type faster but......I'm not too good yet because I'm playing catch up with my brain (2 bad concussions in 2 years).

Anyway, I saw the same show.  I've been asking my friends who have seen some (many but not all) of my Birkenstock shoes/sandals about how many I have (they are in long and big tupperware crates).

One friend said at least 100 and another said 90.  I think it's closer to 80 or 90.  Some are in various closets.

So.....I looked up the number (phone) of the headquarters of Birkenstock and it's listed on the east coast.  I live in Va so I'm going to try calling them tomorrow or sometime this week.

I want to know how to tell what is fake because all but maybe 3 or 4 pair came totally for sure from QVC.  I think I bought 2 or 3 pair from HSN but they were supposedly Birkenstock because there was something about the German company and Birkenstock having 'problems'.

I'm also curious about what the highest number of Birkenstock someone has.

I have some that I'm sure they don't make anymore.  I have clogs I still wear.

I normally wear the sandals all summer.  However, this summer I haven't worn any because I fell in April and I've been collecting Sketchers (almost obsessed with them but now find them boring).  The Sketchers are more like tennis shoes because I just feel safer walking in them (lace up).

I love typing on the laptop but it hurts my left hand.  I fractured my left wrist.  I got tired of Drs so I ust wore a soft brace and didn't have it checked like the Dr told me to.   Now I think I might have to go to the hand Dr she recommended.  I just think he'll want to operate an after wearing a body brace, neck and head brace (you name it), I'm tired of all of it.

After I call the headquarters one way or another (might just get the run around) I'll come on and find out what they say.

I have two pair I think it is that got water dripped on them and the cork shrunk and I didn't find out until they dried.  They shrunk so they look weird.

Some of the sandals I've barely worn.  Some are beautiful colors with flowers, stripes.  I'm sure they don't make them anymore.

Out of all the shoes I have (I love shoes) the Birkenstock one's are my favorite.

I was so looking forwar to using the laptop (as opposed to hunting and pecking with the Ipads I have).  I have separate keyboards I can connect to the ipads, but I need help connecting them.

So, to finally summarize.  I'll see what I can find out about our Birkenstock from the main office and let everyone know.

I do recommend everyone who loves Birkenstock to look up the show.  I have it on my DVR.  I'll try not to delete it.

I'm so disappointed that my wrist and neck hurts from the position of sitting here typing.

I've missed everyone so much.

I have stories to tell everyone but you guys know how I bla bla on and wow!  this wrist really hurts

@Annabellethecat66 - I am so glad to see you posting tonight.  I remembered that you had many pairs of Birkenstocks.  I have 22 pairs. I have a ways to go before I catch up with you.

Sending my best wishes to you for your continued recovery.

l too ! have tons of Birkenstock shoes .  l worked as a nurse and wore the closed toe clogs every day . l had many colors and designs  to match the colors of the uniforms . l sold most of those on Ebay when l retired . They sold quickly . l kept most of my sandals , l actually have a few pairs totally worn out !  l like the MaryJane style for dress up occasions . l cannot wear heels .  l bought most of them from QVC , l loved the girl that sold them in the beginning , with her big kicks .  l stopped watching after she left . l also bought a few pairs about 6 , directly from Germany . lt took a couple of months to get here , but they had such beautiful and unique styles . l saw the program , it was very interesting !

@judianne Sally Combs is who sold Birkenstocks on QVC. She now works with the LUG brand. She doesn't sell on Q, but Lug started their own live selling on Facebook, Instagram and if you are not on either of those, the best place to catch the shows is on their own LugLive app you can download for free. Gabrielle, who used to be a QVC host now works for them as well. They do shows on that app several times a week from their homes. Sally is still fun to watch.

@gidgetgh  Thank you for your kind words.  Just sitting here trying to type the little I have REALLY hurts my neck and wrist.

I told my girls that even a fall as bad as mine I was not going to let it get the best of me.

I had to wear a body and neck brace for a few months (sleeping, etc).  Then I had to wear a neck brack and should really still wear one.  But I don't (bothers me).  I feel like I can't see as well.

One one hand I know I'm bragging about the shoes, but they are something I love so much (stupid, I know).

That's one of the things about my personality I wouldn't mind changing (the obsessivenes), but I turn 76 this year and I guess it's too late.

This summer (what was left of it) I went bonkers on Sketchers.

When I pass on to the yonders (I hope upward...Ha).  Someone who has big feet (10&  1/2 and 11) and is a chub (1X, 2X)  is going to think THEY died and went to Heaven (whomever my girls give this stuff to).

A few years ago I was like that with that stuff Tara sells on QVC.  OMG!  I had tons of the stuff...you name it.  I never cook so a few years ago my friend had a yard sale.

I said, "Come get it and you price it.  I don't want to know the prices".

Big mistake.  I stopped by to see prices of .50 Cents, $1 and $2 for it!  I thought I was having a heart attack.  Ha!

I saw some lady loading up her car with it.  I got in my car and left.  These days I'm trying to limit how much of that stuff I buy.

But.....my youngest daughter in Colorado just got a house.  She's single and has wonderful taste (way better than mine).

I've been sending her 'stuff' from QVC (David's Tara stuff, etc.  today).

You name it....I need someone to put the breaks on it.  My girls send the stuff back and I never know it.

Every now and then on the computer it will say, (something like..."credit...bla bla".)

But get this the Colorado daughter just told me she sent her sister for her 49th birthday a now Coach purse.

I was like, "What?  Do you realize a purse is a very personal thing to give someone!"

Now, you watch.  Daughter number one (49 lives in Va like me) will love the thing (daughter number 3 lives in Colorado) will love the purse.

I'd never do that...But I'm the mom...what do I know...right?
