Florentine leather and weather???

I live in the Northwest where we get a lot of rain and snow in the winter. Will the Florentine leather spot or stain when it gets wet? Would treating it with a weather protector help? I am not interested in a bag that I have to worry about if it gets wet. Any advice would be appreciated!
