Did you ever wonder why you never see shoe boxes for shoes sold at T.J. Maxx in the U.S. or Winners in Canada? I sure have and then I noticed the other day when at Winners one of the clerks with a dolly cart loaded up with moving size cardboard boxes of shoes and she was putting the price tags and sizing stickers on them.

I saw big boxes filled with Skechers shoes and other boxes filled with athletic brands that I never heard of. She left her station in the shoe department for a break, I presume, so I got a good look at those big boxes shipping labels since they were next to the area where you would sit down to try on shoes. I saw shipping labels that showed some of the boxes were shipped directly from China to a west coast warehouse while the Skechers were shipped from a central Ontario Winners warehouse to the individual store. The shoes are just tossed in these big moving size cardboard boxes...I would guess this is a big cost cutting measure on both the shipping company's and Winner's part as they don't have to deal with extra storage spaces that individual shoe boxes would take up.

Interesting! Yes, I have wondered why you don't get a box.  Kind of makes sense though.

It must be hard to find a left shoe that goes with a right when they're all thrown together like that.

My local bargain type stores have their name brand shoes sold  in their original boxes.

The only ones that are not in boxes are flip-flop type sandals and Crocs.

TJ Maxx, Marshalls and the big shoe outlet near me all have boxes for their shoes.

The good stuff and the featured stuff is often (usually?) sold in boxes.  The other stuff they may buy by weight, in which case they would be unboxed.

It might also depend on how much room there is for the display.  My Marshall's has a huge shoe area with one shoe on display and the boxes on shelves underneath.  My TJM just has a couple small aisles of open metal racks with every pair sitting out with no boxes.

I've seen Marshall's both in the U.S. and Canada that sell shoes in boxes but I haven't seen that at T.J. Maxx in the U.S. or Winners in Canada except some women's winter boots. And not all winter boots, it's usually boots with tall shafts.

I noticed that the Winners employees were unpacking and ticketing more back to school shoes and women's dress shoes, those were the unboxed ones that came in a big moving size box as well.
