Can anyone refresh my memory about the D&B trade in program. I've used it once a long time ago and their site is down at the moment. When trading in a purse, do they give you half of what the original price was for the purse?

Thank you.

Re: Dooney & Bourke Trade In

Yes, you get a credit for up to half of the original list price of the item. But you need to buy a new handbag that has a list price of the same or greater than your trade in handbag. If the new bag has a lower price, you lose some of the value of the trade in.

Re: Dooney & Bourke Trade In

Hi Angel03,

Yes. Under the Dooney Trade-In-Program you send in an old Dooney. Dooney will send you a letter stating the amount of your credit. It will be 1/2 of the original value of the bag. The condition of your trade-in-bag does not matter. The new bag you purchase must be at least double the amount of the trade in value. For example, if you send in a bag that was originally worth $400.00 you will get a credit of $200.00. But the new bag you purchase must cost at least $400.00. Also, you only have 30 days from the date of your letter (not the date you receive it) to call in an order for a new bag. If they do not hear from you within the 30 days your bag will be returned to you. Once you place a new order the old bag will be destroyed. HTH, Maria

Re: Dooney & Bourke Trade In

Thank you ladies! This really helps. I've already picked out a D&B handbag that I'd like to purchase but I'm trying to figure out if buying from D&B or Macy's (with coupon) would be the better deal.

Thank you

Re: Dooney & Bourke Trade In

wow! thank you for this. I have 2 Dooneys I bought in my 20's...a black on black spectator and a cordovan medium equestrian. they are just too small for me now. I paid $250 and $350 for them 40 years ago...then afain I bought them at Saxe 5th Avenue in San Francisco. do you think bags that old will be tradeable? they are still in near new condition, just a little wear on the edges of the bottom of the black one. tjis would be a greT excuse to buy one of the more expensive Doonies.

Yes 50% of whatever their full retail was. So if you, paid less than then full retail they don't care. You must then purchase a bag that is equal to or more than the retail value they determined was the price on your trade in.

Re: Dooney & Bourke Trade In

Dooney does not care how old or what condition the handbags are that you trade in. They have records as to what the original price was on all of the handbags they have made, so they credit you 1/2 of that price. Have fun trading in and getting something new and up-to-date! This is a huge selling point for me and Dooney & Bourke.
