I'm finding that the different blue colors that Dooney has been releasing in the Florentine are so difficult to sort out, especially right now when there are so many, and it's hard to find them all in one place. This is what I've come up with - please add any info you have.
Powder blue: the palest blue, slightly aqua shaded
Aqua blue: a little darker and brighter than Powder
Royal Blue: kind of a darkish cornflower blue
Ocean blue: this one shows as lighter than Royal blue on the Dooney website's little color swatch circles, and shows on the website handbag color pictures as very similar to Royal but slightly darker. In real life it's quite darker, it's a medium tealish-blue, just slightly lighter/brighter than Teal.
Teal blue: close to Ocean blue but darker (darker than most teal blues)
Navy blue: very dark navy
I ordered a large Florentine bag online in Ocean blue, hoping it would be similar to the Royal blue color but just a little darker as the pictures seemed to show, but it's darker than I wanted. It's a beautiful color, more teal and just a touch darker than the Dillen Ocean blue. It would be a perfect color to wear any season, not too dark for summer or too light for winter and the touch of teal in the blue makes it scrumptious.
I'm trying to decide if I want to keep it, or try to find a Royal blue like I was originally looking for, but the Royal seems almost impossible to find now in the large Florentine Satchel or the Smith bag which are the ones I want. Also the bag I got has perfect beautiful leather, and from what I've read the flaws can be a problem in these bags, so maybe I should keep it and count my blessings. ![]()
Does anyone know if the outlet stores have colors that have been discontinued, or do they pretty much sell out at the same time as the Dooney website & QVC and other stores? I don't have a Dooney store anywhere near me in Washington State but I've heard they will ship.
Anyway, I just wanted to share the info I've found on the current blue colors in case anyone else is having trouble deciding.
