I think it gives a bag a sporty, informal vibe. I especially like it if it looks handmade. If I wanted a more dressy, formal bag, I wouldn't want the top stitching.

But most of those structured satchels are not sporty, but very lady like. But it is me. On the orange ones it doesn't bother me, or cream, but the dark colors look not right to me.

Don't care for contrast stitching on anything.

It depends on the bag... Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't think it works very well at all.

I think it depends on the bag too. I like it on the orYany Tracy bag in the almond. I think without it, I think it adds contour to the bag.

I strongly dislike contrast stitching. If I want contrast, I will provide my own contrast with a "pop of color." LOL!

I agree that contrast stitching makes a bag seem rather sporty. I do not like contrast stitching on clothing either.
