Re: Different dimensions on small stanwich

It happens a lot. I've seen the same bag with different measurements here, at DB, Zappos and department store sites. It's all the same bag, they just measure differently. I don't know why they don't all accept the manufacturer's measurements and then stipulate what they include (bottom of the handles, to the top of the handles, whatever...). I'm looking at a bag now that has different sizes posted here at DB, and at two different stores. None of them matches each other and yet it's the exact same bag... Go figure.

Forgot to add, my suggestion would be to find the bag on a site that shows it being held or carried even if only by a 'stick figure' or a video of it being carried, and even that's not ideal but gives a better indication of proportion.

Re: Different dimensions on small stanwich

I ordered the Stanwich satchel last year. The bag which fits my height and weight the best, seems to be a handbag in the 13" length size. Sounds funny, but I measured my favorite handbags and came up with this as a "basic" in which to decide when I am confused about proportions online, in print or TV.

Anyway, back to your question: the dimensions I followed were from the D&B site. I would go by the QVC size which is the closest to the D&B site. What I did want to mention, the handbag did appear larger IRL than I had anticipated. It may be a visual distortion due to the pleating of the leather at the base of the bag.

I like that Lisa and a few others give the weight of Dooneys. I don't buy them for myself very often because of the weight, but sometimes for gifts for daughters and Grands. Helps to know how heavy a bag is. I love the Smith bags, but they are waaaaay too big for me.

Re: Different dimensions on small stanwich

When it comes to a DB bag, I refer to their site for the most accurate measurements. Through trial and error, I found this to be the most reliable method. QVC often gives false measurements on their bags, whether it be DB, VB, Oryany etc... Stevieb is right, sometimes you will find several different measurements for the same bag on differing sites...I like her idea of referring to a model...I also try to go by the manufacturer's sizing in order to get the best info. Hope this is helpful!Smiley Happy))
