Dansko vs Birkenstock sizing

If you wear a 42 in Birks do you also wear a 42 in Dansko's? I'm a little confused on the sizing because I wear and 11 in US sizes, a 9 in UK sizing and a 42 in Birks which are the only European sized shoes I've bought.

Re: Dansko vs Birkenstock sizing

You are not alone.  Even alegria has a different size converting chart.  I thought the chart was universal and now the vendors are placing their own twist to the chart.  Come on, how can we purchase the shoes with all these different size charts?  Who at the Q is responsible for this? That is, checking why all the different charts.

Re: Dansko vs Birkenstock sizing

I'm not complaining about the euro sizing. I just want to know if Danskos run similar to Birkenstock as far as fit.

Anyway, I found this on Footprints website which was helpful

If you're familiar with some of our other brands, most people who wear a regular width in the Birkenstock Classic Footbed wear one size larger in Dansko. Those who wear a narrow width in the Birkenstock Classic Footbed will usually wear the same size in Dansko.

I wear the regular footbed, so I guess I'd go up a size in the Dansko's. I which case, I can't wear the size on QVC. At least Footprints sells 43 on their site.

The Q really needs to address this.  I thought the size converting chart was Universal and now everyone has a different chart.  Hello?

Re: Dansko vs Birkenstock sizing

My ortho doc tells me that from what he sees, most women wear shoes 2X too small.  I guess what I am saying is to find a size/style and stick with it.  I now wear mens only (Spenco) and my feet are celebrating.

Good luck getting that right size.

There is no such thing as universal sizing. It has nothing to do with the Q. Shoe makers aren't going to change their fit just to meet QVC or any other retailers made up universal size.

[ Edited ]

I wear the same size - a Euro 40 - in Birkenstock and  Dansko.

The only one that differs for me is Alegria, where I wear a 39.

You really  have to look on the manufacturer's official website's size charts, and then take into account what your unique feet and  toes are like.

Since my 2nd and 3rd  (LOL) toes are both a lot longer than my "big toe", I have to leave room for 'em by going up a half or full size in any  footwear.

(except, again, for the Alegrias, where their sizing for a 39 is 9 to 9.5)

That's my issue too, lol. My second toe is a lot longer than the others. But I also wear the regular width in Birkenstocks, not the narrow width.

I usually wear the regular too, but depending on the style and any adjustability, I can wear their narrow and wide widths also.

american sizes are universal.  a 10 is always a 10 so why can't a 41 always be a 41?  How can you keep changing the sizing?  Does not make sense at all.
