Damaged Nylon with Leather Trim

Does anyone know if a leather repair can fix wide scrapes in leather? I just used my brand new nylon tote with leather accents as a carry on this weekend thinking it could hold up. Sadly the whole front of the leather was damaged. They are not scratches that can be rubbed out. They are large wide scrapes. If I can't have it repaired I won't use it again and that just makes me ill :0(
