I was at Woodbury Commons today and visited both the Coach and the Dooney outlets. In the Dooney outlet I saw the Smith bag in a variety of different suede colors. These bags are heavy, but the construction and workmanship is something to behold. To me, it's a work of art in all ways. However, I just don't want gold hardware on my bags. I know that some of the bags are said to have light gold hardware that supposedly mixes well with silver jewelry I wear, but that really doesn't fly with me. I prefer silver and that is very available in the Coach bags I end up getting. The Dooney Smith bags were 50% off this weekend...a fantastic price. However, because of the hardware I did not get it. I am so tired of passing up better made D&B bags for Coach bags because so many of D&B bags have goldtone hardware. I am just not happy with it. Particularly in times like this, when gold is so expensive so that many more people wear silver accessories, I hope Peter Dooney will rethink this.
