I just ordered this bag in chestnut. No doubt, it is a beautiful bag and I love all the pockets. My worry is the weight? I have another smaller Florentine from D&B and of course if I fill it up, it is a bit heavy.

Love to hear from anyone out there who has this bag. Do you love it, is it super heavy and what color do you have?

Re: D& B Clayton Bag Question

I have this bag (in violet) and yes, it's heavy.

I'm not put off in the slightest by heavy bags as I'm only(!) a 40something and accustomed to lugging heavy gear in bags and rucksacks but I can't disagree with those who claim it's a fearsome weight!

Re: D& B Clayton Bag Question

I purchased this bag when it was on sale at Nordstrom. I loved the look of it but it was way to heavy for me. I also thought is was way too tall and could see myself endlessly searching deep into the bag to find what I needed. It also scratches very easily which I saw Lisa R. say you could just rub out with your finger - but nonetheless I just didn't want to worry about it so returned. I love handbags made of Saffiano leather because it's very durable. If you can deal with the weight you may like it. I think it gets pretty good reviews if I recall. I hope you love it so you don't have to return.

Re: D& B Clayton Bag Question

It's a beautiful bag, if on the heavy side, which doesn't really bother me. I got mine in black and while I'd like to add the new bone option, I'm afraid I'll have to look for a sale, just as I did the first time. Full retail on this one is a bit rich.

All the Florentines mar easily, but that really doesn't bother me either. If I want a bag to remain pristine I know this is not the leather to choose.

I love the bag, enjoy the organizational options and don't find the bag to be too big or too much of a north-south configuration that items are hard to find. While clearly Dooney, as far as I'm concerned, this is one of the more unique looking bags they've done in quite a while and I'm so glad they offered more exterior pockets than they usually do.

Re: D& B Clayton Bag Question

Thank you ladies for your advice and opinions on the bag. I ordered the chestnut and couldn't decide between that and the bone, but the chestnut looked so rich and classic. I hope I love it too and don't have to return it. I've always thought that good leather should look worn and not pristine so if it scratches, that won't bother me at all. I also like the cupcake tote in the white which sold out. i'm such a handbag junkie!!!!
