Coordinating Shades in different Patterns?

Does anyone try to get different patterns but yet coordinating shades? Tutti frutti is one that I've liked, and I ordered it in the weekender bag that goes over your luggage handle. My rolling luggage is pink tweed/houndstooth and the pink in tutti frutti should blend. I'm wondering if the Heather in the tsv can coordinate back to some of the mint shades and it looks like there is some pink in there. Thoughts?
