Will storing leather handbags in a cold room be bad for the leather? Was wondering, I have a closet that go's up the the actic and it gets really cold air comes down into that closet. Maybe,I should keep them some where else. Thanks

As long as it is dry, it will be fine. No moisture.

As long as it's above freezing and dry, I don't think there is a problem. Heat is more of an issue as it can dry out the leather. Don't store your leather handbags in plastic, boxes or bags. Store them is sleeper bags or old pillow cases. Just be careful not to put light colored handbags in dark sleeper bags. The one type of leather I would be careful with is patent leather. I don't know how that will react to sharp changes in temperature or extremes.

As a side note, my bedroom closet is on an outside wall and is not heated. It gets down to the 50's in the winter. I've never had a problem with a leather handbag... and I have a 'collection' that has grown over the years. I have 20 year old handbags that are still in good condition.... none the worse for many winters and summers in the closet.

Thanks for the replays , I did buy a plastic case with doors, maybe I better not put the bags in this! Just was thinking of getting out of the cold closet ( can get down in the 30's) and out of bags so I can see them better and know whats inside. Do you think that kind of plastic would hurt or cause them to sweat in the summer? No air up stairs. Old Northeastern home!

Cold is okay, just no moisture. Use pillow cases to cover from dust and "critters".
