I don't mind a white contrasting sole, but I generally prefer a normal size sole over the thicker ones. Shoes with thick soles are definitely trending. My Tommy Hilfiger sneakers have a thicker sole, and I like those a lot.

UPDATE ....

 

I took the shoes "for a walk outside" today - just six blocks round trip for a couple of errands.

 

They are going to make nice walking shoes for city streets.  AND - they look pretty good too!
