I miss handbags too. Years ago, before there was a dedicated handbag forum, a group of us used to talk about handbags in the fashion forum. The ladies complained so much that we were cluttering up their forum that we started our own group somewhere else. Some of us are still posting together and we've really become friends and we talk about so much more than handbags now.
Don't know what they are thinking. I like a lot of the new features, but in a lot of ways, I think they are going backwards.

Portia, it does seem like this is a downgrade in many ways... Clearly, there are some advantages to the new format and maybe more will become evident over time. but as of right now it's a bit of a big amalgamated mess, with so many things lumped together under categories that are too broad. I really hope they address it and soon. If any part of the goal was to make it more accessible and user friendly across the board (not merely more 'device' compatible... and the jury would appear to be out, even on that), then they haven't succeeded... And yes, we need a handbag forum. Really, it's only fair.

Was surprised not to see a handbag forum. (In fact, was hoping for the addition of a Gili sub-forum.) But found it relatively quickly, I suppose, under "accessories." it appears to be an effort to streamline things. I like the promise of added functionality. And they seem to be working/addressing some of the glitches. The new folder view sort of gives me a compulsion to want to sort threads into my own category folders like on my Mac. LOL.
Handbags is basically the only "topic" I visit. It's why I joined the community.
Yes, it would be great if handbags, shoes and accessories could be separate forums.
Is it me, or has the number of new threads actually increased under the new community format? Seems promising.
I suspect the separation of categories would have an even bigger impact on those looking for the shoe and accessories threads.

I keep checking to see if there is a handbag forum yet. I don't care about having it broken down by brand like before, but at least a place to post where one does not have to sift through all the various topics that could fall under the category of shoes and accessories.
Has there been a reply from the suggestions box?

So what was the advantage of streamlining categories for users? It just makes posters work harder to find what they seek... Moreover, some areas were expanded while some were 'downsized' and combined. It makes no sense... I can understand it for areas that got little traction, even those areas I might have enjoyed, but handbags? Really? The handbag forum and several subforums were often busy and almost always active and besides, handbags represent an area where QVC makes significant sales. Nope, they need a handbag forum. And, to add insult to injury, they don't even so much as mention handbags, but rather lump them in as an 'accessory'. No matter how you slice it, there is no viable justification for not having included a handbag forum.

Hi SunnyRose... No response yet as far as I've seen... I too keep hoping that sooner rather than later they'll create a forum for handbags. From what I've seen, they seem to be taking a lot of questions but I've seen very few responses to inquiries or requests. I suspect they're overwhelmed, but then after all, they created this situation and although they tried to put a positive spin on it, they had to know there was going to be fallout about some of the bad choices they made...

Hey @stevieb: I dunno. I agree it was an oversight, but was just trying to understand where it came from. Perhaps "shoes" is a greater inventory/sales area than "handbags," and they weren't necessarily thinking in terms of forum interest or heavy duty users but in overall product movement? Sheer conjecture on my part obviously. Or maybe it's just a complete oversight. As for the category name, doesn't seem to be room to include all three in the heading, so maybe it was just a way to "make it fit."
In any case, folks seem to have expressed their views, so hopefully it can be separated out, as an overall category. They have been adding functionality, such as the new email address change and searching for all of one's posts now being available. Still seems to be some cross-platform compatability issues, too. Maybe they're working out the overall glitches and kinks first and then will get to organization.
I hope so. Truly, it is a bit confusing to open a "Gili" thread to find it being about shoes, rather than handbags. I'm obviously biased, but really, all I care about is handbags. ![]()

I guess I'd anticipated when they unleashed these new boards that there would be a general handbag board, a Dooney subforum along with a few other subforums. I anticipated they'd finally dump BMak, but I surely had no idea they'd roll all handbags, shoes, and every other accessory known to man into one stinking forum... I too had hoped they'd create a GILI subforum, to more or less corral all the posts and threads about that line, which might, for the most part, have kept them out of the general handbag forum. At this point, like others, I'd just be happy to see a forum devoted exclusively to handbags. Like others, I see the structure they've created as taking at least five giant steps backwards... Who knows, over time we might come to like the functionality (assuming it surfaces) but this organizational structure they've unleashed is one big mosh pit of a hot mess.
