Wore this shoe for the first time yesterday.  It had a comfortable footbed but, I kept having to stop and slide my foot forward, ugh!   Does anyone have a suggestion on how to keep my foot in place.  Unfortunately, it's too late to return

You probably bought the wrong size.  Sounds like you should have bought the next size down so that your foot would have rested on the arch support in just the right place to prevent the sliding.  For example if you bought a 39 you should have bought a 38. You can try adding a ball of foot pad into the shoes.  Foot Petals makes some nice ones which are comfortable and inexpensive.
