Looking through my closet, I realized I have a collection of shoes that I wear only once or twice a year and not as many that I regularly wear.  Does anyone else have this issue?

Welcome to my world!  I have classic pumps that I once wore to work and to nice dinners out and to social occasions.  They classic pumps that never go out of style and they "live" in their clear boxes on the top shelf of the coat closet.  I never wear them.  I admit to a boot addiction.  Tall/midcalf/ankle I have them all.  Sandals, more than I count.  Two years ago, I got rid of all of the footwear that I can't wear because of knee and back issues.  I got rid of all of the old outdated footwear.  It is what it is.  I don't buy anything that is trendy or over the top, I buy classics the never go out of style so if I do wear something just 3 or 4 times a year, I'm ok with that.

Yes, I wear same pair or two because they're broken in

and comfortable.

I seem to have too much of everything and wear same few pieces. You'd think that would stop me from buying

more---- it doesn't. Dh says I'm a hoarder, and at times

gets quite angry 😤. I ignore him, I can afford it, so few things bring me joy now with all my health issues----

big deal.

I know what you mean. I used to be in a bad habit of buying these super high heel dressy shoes that I didn't need for my everyday life.  Because they were so pretty and fabulous.  Now I try to buy a lot of practical everyday shoes that are comfortable as well. So I have a lot in both categories, and I'm ready for anything LOL!

@IMW

I totally agree with you!  We both work and make good salaries.  The kids are married and on their own.  I have some chronic health issues, nothing serious but things that bring on the blues at times.  I spend a lot of money on myself, I love to shop but I can afford everything I buy.  I'm not even using credit.  Shopping makes me happy so I shop.  Hubby says that opening the boxes is what really makes me happy....LOL

A few months ago I donated bag after bag of wonderful and beautiful shoes, boots and sandals and it was so depressing to me!  I actually cried when I was placing some of them in the bags!  I know --- silly --- but anyone who knows me, knows that I have always been a shoe freak --- absolutely loved them!

Now, due to medical issues, can't wear any pretty or trendy shoes so got rid of nearly all of them.  I admit to keeping just a few very special and pretty pairs that I just couldn't let go!  They are in clear plastic boxes and I admire them occasionally!  So --- now I only look for suitable, sneakers which are sturdy and can work with my orthotics!

For most of my life I could never find comfortable shoes as I wore size 6-1/2 wide. I grew up in NY and very few shoe stores carried wide - so my feet were always miserable. This is in the 1950s/60s. It wasn't until I started watching the Q in 1995 did I start buying Clarks, Rykas and Birkenstocks. These are the only brands that fit me properly. Now I have 80 pairs of very comfortable shoes -- all different colors and styles!!! I have a customized walk-in closet off my master bedroom --- filled with delicious shoes. Enjoy your shoes!!!!

Yes. That probably 75% of my shoes. I have a variety of colors that rarely are worn. I like to buy shoes!
