@AuntMame--what kind of yogurt do you make? I made soymilk yogurt, that turned out great; but would like to make almond milk yogurt. DD is lactose intolerent and can do soy,  I had breast cancer so I don't usually eat soy. I haven't really looked for such recipes yet.

I use organic milk, either skim or whole. I buy it from a small local organic dairy. I find that it turns out so much richer and tastier than the generic milk from the grocery store. Another advantage of the organic milk is that the cows aren't treated with hormones.

As a starter I use a half-container of ******e Greek yogurt.

What do you make the yogurt in -- just the steel inside pot of the IP?

I have had the Dash Greek Yogurt Maker and the Euro Cusine one that makes the little individual jars and love them both!  The Dash even has the filter with it that strains the yogurt for thicker Greek yogurt.  I love them.  I'd rather make it that way than in the IP I think.

I had a Eurocuisine and loved it but it died after a couple years.

I make yogurt in the steel pot inside the IP. Store it in a glass bowl or spoon it into individual containers for lunches.

@Sooner--the recipe I used was for soymilk yogurt and I mixed the milk up in my Vita mix with acidopolous powder, to thicken it, then poured into glass canning jars with the lids on, put them in the Instant pot  and stacked them for more room then hit the yogurt button and left it for 12 hours--turned out great

@wagirl  Thanks!  Did you use a powdered yogurt starter or regular yogurt for your starter?  I've tried both and don't see a lot of difference.

I don't make as much yogurt however, since I discovered Wallaby Greek style yogurt!  It is SOOOO good!  But I may start again and try your method!

THANKS again!

@Sooner-- no I used Acidophilus capsules that I opened up. Now what I made was SOYMILK yogurt not cows milk yogurt, so there is a difference. But I have made cows milk yogurt with both a packaged starter and reg yogurt-= as a starter---both turned out fine. Also with the soymilk, I didn't have to heat the milk up--with the cows milk, I did, and I used a yogurt maker then and not the IP.

@wagirl  Thanks for the explanation!  I had never heard of using that as a starter.  I learned something today!

@Sooner--you know, me neither--wonder if it is just when using soymilk--- always heard about the starter or a dollaop of yogurt. But it is all about the probiotics and such.

Well, I thought it was just ME!  It sounds interesting--need to investigate!  A project for upcoming rainy days!  LOL!!
