YAY!!!!
It IS so incredibly easy...especially when the soy milk is in the
Tetra packs. Just pour the powder in the Tetra pack, shake real good
then pour into containers. Easy-Peasy!
I tried using almond milk before...and I didn’t get the same response.
Many have said its due to the higher fat content of soy which makes
the yogurt set up...and w/ any other PB milk, you’ll need a stabilizer.
By then I got tired-head w/ the explanation...and figure i’ll just stick
with soy. 🙃
@wagirl What other milks were you planning to do?

@sidsmom--My DD is dairy sensitive so that is the reason for the soymilk. I am not, but don't eat alot of soy due to having breast cancer 6 years ago--and I have been told eating non gmo, organic soy is prob safe--but why tempt fate---just me maybe. Would like to try coconut milk yogurt. Will research the others too. Good to know about the fat content tho.
I used my VitaMix to mix in the culture. I used an acidophilus in capsule form--opened them up and poured in the powder. Got the recipe from--- time for change kitchen . com, too. Will look into other stabilizers too.
thanks for the tips!!!

I would love to make homemade yogurt. Makes me think about buying an Instant Pot.

@CinNC—— you can make yogurt without an Instant Pot, with a yogurt maker or a pot on the stovetop. Both ways are time consuming. The thing I liked about using this method is how simple the recipe is—— just the soy milk and the stabilizer. No heating the milk first to the prefect temp. Pour it into jars and then in the IP and push a button. But I use the Instant Pot all the time too, for other things.

@wagirl brings up a good point. A yogurt maker would do the same
job but for about $30. And Instant Pot is in the $80 range...but it does
a multitude of things other than yogurt making. It IS nice to set/forget
and wake up to fresh yogurt in the morning! (I’m weird...I like it warm!).

Have you froze the yogurt to make like fresh yogurt icecream?

@BeccaLou--no I haven't done that but what a good idea--will look into that.

I've been wanting an instant pot for awhile. I have a pressure cooker and I love it. When I found out that you could make yogurt so easily in the instant pot, that really made me want it. Will check out the tsv this month and see what they offer.
