Re: not all sour cream is the same

I never use sour cream! I find that substituting plain yogurt gives the same results but much healthier.

Re: not all sour cream is the same

I agree like this Dean's Dairy Pure got it in my local $$$$$ store for the first time this past week.It was the only brand they had and I needed it for supper, and the store is closer then going to my grocery store..

But liked that they can put on container NO ARTIFICIAL GROWTH HORMONES.

SCARY to think what is in our foods today.

Now will be  adding  to the ever growing list to read labels even when buying  sour cream.

I just checked the Aldi brand—cream, milk, enzymes. Tastes pretty good too!

Thank you for that information!  I will certainly check the labels in the future.

The only brand that tastes good to me is Knudsen/Breakstone.  The ingredients are CULTURED PASTEURIZED GRADE A CREAM (FROM MILK), ENZYMES.

Re: not all sour cream is the same

I only use Daisy sour cream, but I have found that lately it does not last even to the date on the carton.  I always smell it before using, and I use a lot, but I have thrown out quite a few cartons in the past few months that are about half full.  Not sure what is going on or if anyone else is having the same problem.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

@SXMGirl,

How did the sour cream go bad?   I never toss any unless I find mold.

Re: not all sour cream is the same

@RedTop, I have no idea how the sour cream keeps going bad because milk and cream do not.  I always check dates before purchase, and I am tossing about a half of a carton much before the end date.
